Tire information

all season

All season (M&S) tires are suitable for spring, summer, and fall driving (March 1 - September 30). These tires are not suitable for severe snow (more than an inch) winter driving whatsoever but do provide the best grip and handling in the rest of the year.

  • Touring - touring tires deliver a smoother ride, reasonable wet and dry traction, low rolling resistance and a pleasant drive.
  • Sport/Performance - performance tires focus on responsive handling, a sporty feel and come with higher speed index.
  • Specialty  - we also carry EV specific, trailer and white sidewall tires for specialty vehicles.

TIRE WIDTH

Tire width is measured in millimeters from sidewall to sidewall and is shown in the first three digit number of the tire size.

ASPECT RATIO (RATIO %)

The aspect ratio measures the height of the sidewall as a percentage of the tire width. For example, a tire size 205/65 R16 has an aspect ratio of 65, meaning the sidewall height is 65% of the tire width.

SIZE, SPEED RATING & LOAD INDEX TIRE WIDTH (MILLIMETRES)

Tire width is measured in millimeters from sidewall to sidewall and is shown in the first three-digit number of the tire size. Here, the tire width is 205mm.

RIM DIAMETER (INCHES)

Rim diameter refers to the size of the wheel (in inches) measured from edge to edge across the face of the wheel and determines the size of the rim that the tire can be mounted on.

LOAD INDEX (NUMBER)

The tire load index indicates how much weight your car can safely carry based on tire size and pressure. The higher the load index, the more weight the tire can carry.

SPEED RATING (LETTER)

A tire’s speed rating indicates the fastest speed it can handle before it no longer performs as designed. Here, V = 240km/h!

WHERE CAN I FIND MY TIRE SIZE?

There are two main places where you can find your tire size;

  • On the sidewall of your tire
  • On the inside frame of the driver-side door

Still uncertain? Just contact our team, and we will be happy to help!

all weather

These tires have an M+S symbol and a 3-peaked mountain snowflake symbol. They will provide better traction in the winter time compared to all-season tires. This is as close as you can get to a true winter tire that could still be used year round.

WINTER

Winter tires (3 peaked mountain/snowflake symbol with or without an M+S symbol) are designed for severe winter conditions. The tread patterns are usually very aggressive and designed specifically for snow/icy conditions. Using winter tires in the summer will lead to faster wear, poor handling and traction.

all terrain

All-Terrain M+S tires can be used year-round in BC and AB provinces. Moderately aggressive tread pattern is suitable for daily use as well as some off-road use. This tire provides great traction in sandy, rocky and snowy environments. They are also reasonably quiet on the roads and provide a smooth, comfortable ride.

rugged terrain

Rugged Terrain, all weather tires can be used year-round. Thick, deep sidewall edges with rugged designs match the terrain these tires can conquer. Chunky tread blocks with a high void ratio expel mud, rocks and other debris as if the rough road ahead were moving out of the way for the mighty R/T.

mud terrain

Mud-terrain M+S tires are specifically designed for mud bogging, though often used on-the-road as well.  Very aggressive tread pattern with big spaces between lugs provides traction and stability in slickest mud conditions.  Mud-terrain tires will wear faster if used on-the-road, but will definitely make your truck look aggressive.
